“I practice law in a sweater, not a suit.”

Attorney

Mary Ann Jacobs, Esq.

Mary Ann considers herself an outside-of-the-office attorney, often meeting clients in their homes or visiting nursing homes and long-term care facilities. She’s all about developing relationships with her clients that last for decades – even generations. These strong relationships have allowed Mary Ann to be with clients for the long term and she is no stranger to sitting with clients during their final hours in hospice. Her calm, supportive presence and law expertise are often lauded by our clients.

Mary Ann’s practice specializes in elder law – a term that was only just emerging as Mary Ann began her career. Having experienced first-hand the toil caregiving can be, she understands the stress her clients experience as they care for a loved one. Mary Ann takes a holistic approach to her work to ensure each client plans for all aspects of their lives that apply to the law.

In the end, it's all about the person.

Mary Ann began her career at Ritter & Randolph during her senior year of college, quickly becoming the firm’s self-described “gopher.” Now, as a Senior Member at Ritter and Randolph, Mary Ann has helped thousands of clients plan for a life well-lived and a passing according to their wishes. She often goes on to serve the children and grandchildren of her clients. She considers it her mission to extend the legacies of her clients – and of our firm – and takes a leading role in training our next generation of attorneys.

While Mary Ann enjoys the “social work” aspect of elder law, she also practices in real estate and business/corporate law. She’s a graduate of Miami University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Her law degree is from the University of Cincinnati. Mary Ann serves the community in a variety of ways outside of work including her involvement in the Llanfair Retirement Community, Ohio Living Foundation, the Cincinnati Law Library, and New Day United Methodist Church.

Mary Ann enjoys traveling and is a frequent speaker on topics of elder law and estate planning.
