Mary Ann Jacobs, Esq.Here we go again with another scam targeting seniors.  This particular scam has callers phoning Medicare beneficiaries stating they are insurance agents working for Humana or CarePlus.  They tell the seniors that they are due a Medicare refund and in order to get the refund, they have to divulge their birth date, Social Security number, bank account information and Medicare number.  With this information, the scammers usually obtain credit cards or debit cards in the senior’s name and run up sizeable debt at the senior’s expense.  Be forewarned that Medicare insurers do not make unsolicited phone calls and any legitimate agent would not ask for personal information.
