Daniel P. Randolph, EsqIf your cell phone has a 513 or 859 area code, you can sign up to receive alerts on your mobile phone notifying you if there is an emergency in your area.  The alerts, issued by the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency, are also sent to residents’ home phone numbers listed in the county’s 911 database.

To register your cell phone, visit https://hamco-oh.smartmsg.com.  You can opt to receive alerts via voice message, email or text message.  The County Wide Alerting System is free and users can opt out at any time.

An emergency notification could be made for things like a natural disaster, a man-made disaster, a missing child or a public safety emergency. With so many individuals doing away with landlines, registering your cell phone is a smart thing to do.
